The transport of passengers in the second quarter of 2021 jumped by 124% compared to the same period in 2020, however, it was down by 35.8% in comparison to 2019 Q2, the national statistical office (DZS) has reported.

In the second quarter of 2021, 13.9 million passengers were transported in Croatia.

Broken down by type of transport, road transportation accounted for the transport of 7.9 million passengers, up by 157.1% compared to the April-June period in 2020.

Nearly 3.4 million passengers used rail transport, + 99.2% on the year.

A total of 2.5 million passengers travelled by sea in Croatia in the April-June period, which was 79.6% more than in the corresponding period in 2020.

When it comes to air transport, 173,000 passengers used services of Croatian air companies, which was 176.3% more than in  2020 Q2.

In the first six months of 2021, a total of 25.2 million passengers were transported, which was an increase of 11.2% as against the 2020 H1 period.
