Austrians do not want to delay travel and Croatia is their top destination after Italy

A small street poll in the center of the Austrian capital reveals that every second Viennese has already visited Croatia or plans to do so, reports vecernji.hr.

Official statistics are probably even better since before the pandemic, up to 1.5 million Austrians came to Croatia on holiday every year (last year about a million).

Yes, inflation certainly affects everyday life, everything becomes more expensive, but we do not want to give up travel anymore – alludes to the pandemic circumstances of the married couple Ilse and Heinz Michalitsch.

Most Austrians, fortunately, think similarly. Although they are facing inflation of over six percent, which is a lot for the country, in the past two years the Austrians have missed a lot of travel due to the strict pandemic regime and do not want to delay that pleasure anymore.

Italy is the most popular. Several hundred thousand more Austrians go to that country every year than to Croatia, but this year Croatian tourism has similar results as Italian colleagues more than ever before.

Croatia is traditionally the second most sought-after country in Austria, behind Italy, followed by Spain, Greece and Turkey. They say that our nature is much more beautiful, but also that we can see a big step forward in quality, so Croatia is no longer like the country it was thirty years ago.

Plus is the introduction of the euro.

As Monika Udovicic, director of the Ministry of Tourism, pointed out, Croatia and Austria will be brought closer by the introduction of the euro. But definitely, the Peljesac Bridge, which opens new perspectives for the south of our coast on the Austrian market.
