EasyJet proclaims Croatia destination of the year

MORE THAN 82 MILLION PASSENGERS A YEAR

Britain’s Easyjet airline has proclaimed Croatia as a destination of the year, confirming this in the July edition of its in-flight magazine which for the first time in the company’s history is entirely dedicated to just one country – Croatia, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Monday. The magazine is expected to contribute to the further promotion of Croatian destinations as it is read by six million passengers each month.

EasyJet chose Croatia as a destination of the year due to increased travel and interest making Croatia one of the key destinations for the airline which carries more than one million passengers to Croatian destinations during the summer months. Just this year, the airline has 49 active routes, connecting Croatian destinations such as Dubrovnik, Split, Pula and Zadar with key European cities.

“Selecting Croatia as a destination of the year by one of the key European airlines is a great success for us and also confirmation that we are achieving significant and strategically important steps forward in this important transport segment. The key objectives we have defined include positioning Croatia as an attractive year-round tourism destination which at the same time has very good transport connectivity, particularly in the context of airlines which are exceptionally important for strengthening tourism turnover in the shoulder seasons. For that purpose, this year we implemented significant cooperation with airlines and travel organisers abroad,” HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic said. Stanicic added that more than 70 new regular routes had been introduced this year.

EasyJet has more than 82 million passengers a year, 13 million of whom are business travellers. With a fleet of more than 300 planes it services 980 routes, flying to 156 airports in 33 countries.
