GREAT NEWS Lika region to get faster internet by 2023

GOSPIĆ, OTOČAC AND PLITVICE LAKES

Gospic, Otocac and Plitvicka Jezera in the Lika region will get a faster internet by 2023 after funding was approved by the EU to develop broadband internet access as part of a project worth almost HRK 100 million, Gospic town authorities said on Friday.

The Town of Gospic is in charge of the project which also includes Otocac and Plitvicka Jezera. The value of the project is HRK 98.2 million with the EU providing HRK 75 million.

Once the project is completed, which is planned for October 2023, these towns should have access to faster internet services.

The project is important for Lika’s tourism because surveys indicate that guests are often disappointed with the poor internet access while the broadband network will enable faster internet access which should contribute to the economic development of that area.

The project was launched in July 2017 and once completed it will ensure Next Generation Access (NGA) with an internet speed of 100 Mbit/s in Gospic, Otocac and Plitvicka Jezera.
