Krapina is a famous location of the European prehistoric period, and next to the prehistoric habitat of the Krapina Neanderthal there is now a new European museum with multimedia contents that will take you back to the age of the Neanderthal and to the beginning of the origins of our species. As you enter the virtual semi-cave of the Stone Age people, you will see the museum’s representation of the far-away past and enter a labyrinth of knowledge about pre-historic times. From the picturesque representation of late 19th-century Krapina, you will proceed to the historical network of the development of European science. One electronic thread will lead you to Dr. Kramberger’s epochal discovery and the discovery of the man who lived before the Great Flood.

Once you have discovered the most recent methodologies and technologies of contemporary science, you will already be on your way to the time machine which will take you to see cosmic and chemical evolution. The double helix of life will take you on a symbolic journey through the long geological history of the Earth which reveals the evolution of life. Only near the end of this journey will you witness the appearance of the oldest great apes and the age of the Neanderthals, where the Krapina Neanderthal belongs. The special feature of this part of the museum is the hyper-realistic representation of the reconstruction of the habitat of the Neanderthal Stone Age in Krapina. Through learning about the anatomy, culture and the environment of the Neanderthal, you will also discover many details related to the life and the behavior of these mystic human ancestors.

Through the representation of Neanderthal rituals and the possible significance of their symbolic behavior you will come to understand possible meanings of the metaphysical world of their Stone Age culture. Apart from the fossils found in Krapina, you will see other Neanderthals on the world map. When looking into the ancient destiny of the Neanderthals and their disappearance, you will see the reconstruction of their possible kinship relations with present-day people. Finally, at the very end of your virtual journey, you will discover the civilization eras and the cultural evolution of our species – reflecting on the way that we humans have changed in the world from the Palaeolithic to the time of space technology.
