There were leopards and lions at Plitvice Lakes?!?

BARAĆ CAVES

In the underworld of amazing Barac Caves scientists discovered many fossil remains that are quite shocking. Why? Well, when they dug deep enough right here in Plitvice area they found fragments of animal bones and teeth that belonged to cave hay, wolf, fox, leopard, wild cats, honeysuckle, beetle, alpine hare, horses, penguins, bison, deer…

So how can animals like lions be mentioned in this part of Europe? Well, a climate was once extremely hot, and the lions actually inhabited the Barac’s caves and the surrounding area. When the climate deteriorated, lions and various other animals, such as cheetah and rhinoceros, moved to Africa.

All these different types of animals were probably in the pit as it was a natural trap, or a predator forced them into the hidden parts of the cave so he could eat his prey.

Wild facts right? 😉
