NOVALJA Agreement signed for reconstruction of ferry dock Žigljen

STRATEGIC PROJECT

The Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, yesterday in Novalja signed an Agreement for the reconstruction and upgrading of the Žigljen ferry dock.

The project is part of a large investment cycle implemented by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, with the aim of connecting all Croatian islands, improving the quality of life and retaining the population.

The reconstruction and upgrading of the dock will allow the reception of larger vessels, as well as the docking the ships in bad weather conditions. In addition, the overall capacity and level of service in the port will be increased and traffic jams will be reduced.

Along with Minister Oleg Butković, the Contract was signed by the Director of the Central Agency for Financing and Contracting of Projects Tomislav Petrić and the Director of the Port Authority of Novalja, Igor Vidas.

Mayor of the City of Novalja Ante Dabo thanked the Government and pointed out that this is an extremely important project for the city of Novalja, but also the entire island of Pag because over 350,000 vehicles and a million passengers annually go through the port of Žigljen.

“Many more projects are waiting for us, and we want to thank everyone who participated in any way in this project and I wish a lot of success in the realization”, said Mayor Dabo.
