Croatia is increasingly becoming an Advent destination: Many Zagreb hotels have no rooms available in December

ZAGREB WON THE BEST EUROPEAN ADVENT AWARD A FEW YEARS IN A ROW

The year ends with good results, and travel agencies, which recently celebrated the hundredth anniversary of the establishment of the first one under the name Putnik, greatly contribute to the off-season results.

During the pre- and post-season, they achieve between 60 and 70 percent of tourist traffic, and December itself is full of new successes.

– In the first week of this month, both guests and overnight stays are eight percent more than in those days last December. At the moment, we have about twenty thousand tourists in the country, there will be twice as many during the weekend, and the numbers will increase as Christmas and the New Year approach. The main reason for arrivals are the attractive Advent events, which, apart from Zagreb, many of our places can now boast of – points out Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board, who reveals that around 80,000 tourists welcomed New Year’s Eve 2023 here.

Minister Nikolina Brnjac confirmed that there is a lot of travel during the last month of the year, as she congratulated travel agencies on their anniversary, saying that they greatly help to achieve one of the main strategic goals of the Government, the development of year-round tourism. “Croatia was known for Advent in Zagreb, but the information shows good tourist demand in many other places as well. Obviously, we are becoming recognized as an Advent destination”, says Minister of Tourism and Sports N. Brnjac.
