The Tourist Board of the City of Dubrovnik is once again organizing the eighth Good Food Festival, a gastronomic event for all lovers of good food, which will be held from the 7th to the 10th of October 2021, in accordance with the prescribed measures due to the epidemiological situation.
This year’s program will include the traditional Restaurant Week with festival menus, wine tastings, sweet festival offer, gastro tours, culinary workshops in Deša, beer evenings with good street food in the Dubrovnik Beer Company, various themed dinners and more. Throughout the festival week, from the 4th to the 10th of October, the Restaurant Week will be held, as well as a sweet offer, wine tastings and gastro tours. Diligent chefs from more than thirty Dubrovnik restaurants have created festival menus especially for the Good Food Festival at promotional prices, and you will be able to taste them throughout the Festival Week. The sweet festival offer is offered by Gianni Confectionery, Hotel Lero Piano bar, Pool & Lobby Bar of Hotel Lapad and Libertas Terrace & Lobby Bar. Choose an interesting gastronomic tour through a walk through the city that will introduce you to the specialties of Dubrovnik cuisine or a wine tasting in Bakus and Škar wine bars.
Be sure not to miss the workshops of the Deša Association where the delicious Budim cake will be prepared, presented by Nina Smokvina, the workshop “Rogač na kvadrat” by Mirna Sarić, a master of Nutrition, and the traditional Korčula dessert Cukarin, presented by Fani Knego Pjević.
At Deša’s workshops you have the opportunity to enjoy the preparation of cocktails with Deša’s bitter orange jam, all under the guidance of top cocktail masters Leo Bautović, Ivana Vinković and Mario Saulan. In addition to Deša’s workshops, there will be a workshop for all wine lovers, “Introduction to the world of wine” led by sommelier Ksenija Matić in Taverna Loggia, and with the guidance of Anamarija Bezek in TUP, you will have the opportunity to make ceramic moulds for the traditional Dubrovnik sweet, quince cheese.
In addition to workshops, you will be able to enjoy themed evenings, American Way Urban & Veggie restaurant with the melodies of old gramophone records, in the restaurant Orsan where the “Fisherman’s Dinner” will be held, which will prepare dishes with locally grown ingredients from Dubrovnik Upper Villages and at Sunset Beach Dubrovnik enjoy a barbecue from OFYR. This year’s themed lunch will be held in the Tavern Veranda, where you will be able to enjoy the presentation and themed lunch “Istrian Gold – Truffle”.
This year’s program of the Good Food Festival will be enriched by the offer of the owner of the BarBaQ brand, Mojmir Žuvela, who will prepare various meat specialties in a food truck at the Dubrovnik Beer Company with live music, and don’t miss Oli’s Food Factory on four wheels, which will for the first two days of the festival to offer street food specialties on the promenade in Lapad Bay, and for the weekend it will be at “TUP courtyard”, where they will prepare the best of Cuban cuisine.
During the rich Good Food Festival program, enjoy the offer of top quality breakfasts with local products of the Dubrovnik area in Kavana Lazareti or a healthy breakfast with yoga in Sunset Beach Dubrovnik, and the last day of the Good Food Festival make a tour of Gornje Seli (Upper Villages) accompanied by a guide and dine in one of the family restaurants at promotional prices. As part of this year’s Good Food Festival, and organized by the Centre for Halal Quality Certification and the Dubrovnik County Chamber of Commerce, a seminar on the success of the application of Halal certificates in the international market will be held.
The festival will be organized in accordance with the decision on restricting the use of disposable plastics for the City of Dubrovnik and institutions and companies in (co) ownership of the City adopted within the project “Plastic Smart Cities” whose main goal is to reduce or stop the use of disposable plastics in various segments of the social life of the city, as well as better management of plastic waste.
