CYCLING FOLLOWING THE RHYTHM OF NATURE Registrations are open for the cycling gravel marathon through Otočac, Brinje and Vrhovine!

The Tourist Board of the City of Otočac, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Brinje and the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Vrhovine have prepared a great cycling event for the end of September.

It is a recreational cycling gravel marathon called “Cycling following the rhythm of nature“ which will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 .

It is the first bicycle gravel marathon in this area, which includes a route of 104 km of asphalt and macadam terrain. The marathon starts from the city park in Otočac and passes through Glavace – Drenov Klanac – Brlog – Žuta Lokva – Brinje – Križpolje – Lipice – Glibodol – Javornik (railway station) – Rudopolje (Zip Line Pazi medo) – Vrhovine and ends again in the city park in Otočac.

Applications until September 27

The start of the marathon will be at 10:00 a.m., while the registration of participants will be before the race itself from 09:00 a.m. Applications can be made on the stotinka.hr website until September 27, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. All registered participants can expect a rich start package, a raffle coupon, dinner and socializing with DJ Danny Black. 

During the ride , five stopping points await the participants, where water and fruit will be distributed. At the second stop in Brinje, a sightseeing tour of the noble town of Sokolac will be organized for all interested participants, while lunch will be organized at the stop at the social center in Lipice .

Considering the length of the route, this bicycle gravel marathon is ideal for professional cyclists, as well as serious recreationalists on two wheels who, in addition to pedaling, will also enjoy the view of picturesque places and seemingly wild nature that provides a special calming feeling.

Project of united tourist boards

Let’s recall that at the end of last year, an agreement was signed on the project association of the Tourist Board of the City of Otočac with the Tourist Boards of the Municipality of Brinje and Vrhovine with the aim of strengthening joint tourism potential and designing and implementing new cultural, artistic, sports, gastronomic and other events. Through the Public tender for project-related tourist boards, which was announced at the beginning of this year by the Croatian Tourist Board, the Tourist Board of the City of Otočac (the holder of the joint tourist boards) was granted funds in the amount of €10,000 for the implementation of the recreational cycling marathon “Cycling following the rhythm of nature“.

This recreational cycling gravel marathon is only the first joint project of the united tourist boards, because new joint projects are already being prepared, which the united tourist boards will submit to future tenders.
