A true celestial spectacle is taking place in the night from 12 to 13 August – the meteor shower, which we will be able to view in the largest observatory in Croatia in Korenica. Starting from 10 PM, everyone is invited to attend the organised viewing of the meteor shower at this exquisite location which boasts the least light pollution in Croatia.
The magnificent show with the Perseid meteor shower will be the most visible from midnight until dawn when it will reach its peak. An average of 60 to 70 meteors per hour is expected, and the conditions will be practically optimal because there will be no moonlight to interfere with our ability to see the meteors.
We hope to see you at the Korenica observatory, far away from light and light pollution, and let’s enjoy this celestial event together.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBSERVERS:
– do not look directly into the radiant (the origin point of the shower), the least meteors will be visible there
– you do not need any equipment such as telescopes or binoculars
– meteors should be viewed with the naked eye while lying on the floor, and you need at least 30 minutes of darkness for your eyes to get used to the view
– you should use a mat, deck chair or sleeping bag while enjoying the view from the ground
