A tourist theme route focusing on historical fortifications has been launched in the Croatian city of Karlovac.
The route, called Fortitude Karlovac, is part of an Interreg project involving the City of Karlovac, the public institution Šibenik Fortress of Culture, Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Herceg Novi and Bar in Montenegro. The total value of the project is €1.6 million.
The purpose of this cross-border project called “Historical Fortresses Intensifying cross-border Tourism Development” is to promote tourism and protect historical and natural heritage, Karlovac Mayor Damir Mandić said at the launch ceremony earlier this week.
The Fortitude Karlovac route connects the medieval town of Dubovac with the Renaissance star-shaped core of Karlovac and runs along the River Kupa.
