„LIČKE POLICE“ Traditional recipe we love!

As their name suggests, „police“(potato halves) are potatoes cut in half and baked in the oven. This delicious meal is ideal for cold winter days, although we are eating it in Lika throughout the entire year.

Traditionally Lika’s cuisine was (and still is) characterized by simplicity so „police“ are not difficult to prepare. According to the traditional recipe you only need two groceries – potatoes and salt.

Ingredients:

• 1kg potato, washed
• Few pinches of salt

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 200 C, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper (optional)
2. Cut potatoes in half lengthwise
3. Place potatoes cut side up on the lined baking sheet. Sprinkle potatoes with salt
4. Bake at 200 C for 30-40 minutes until done. Check with a fork for doneness

Serve with cheese, sausages, bacon, garlic, onion…
