Throughout the 60’s legendary movies about the adventures of the Indian Apache chief Winnetou, based on Karl May’s novels, were filmed in Croatia.
Among many potential locations worldwide, numerous Croatian areas were chosen for the filming: National Park Paklenica, National Park Plitvička jezera, National Park Krka, the canyon of River Zrmanja, Nature Park Velebit(Tulove grede ridge, Prezid pass), Nature Park Vransko jezero, sites Modrić, Rovanjska, Jasenice, Rastević, Omiš, then river Cetina, Grobničko polje, Platak and others.
The wonderful places where it was filmed have still managed to keep their beauty today, which enables the many fans of Karl May who continue to love the films to relax in the adventure and go on the traces of Winnetou.
Especially the generations of young Germans who have been fans of Indian Winnetou and his German friend Old Shatterhand.
There are many Winetou fans who still preserve original photos from the movie shooting, and we have chosen those related to our area.
Enjoy in the slice of history, and it is still not too late to become a Winnetou Forever Fan!
